Digital nomadism is a dream for most of us. It’s a sign of independence and freedom in life. We all know this image of a guy sitting on the beach and working as a freelancer.

I recently decided to turn my life in this direction as well.

However, to become a true digital nomad, you first need to understand a pretty simple concept. It requires simplicity.

You won’t be able to be ‘wherever’ you want if you have so many things that are holding you back.

The more things you own, the more they own you.” it’s easy to fall into the trap of over-equipping, believing every gadget is necessary

You should understand that by having a numerous number of things in life, you’ll just get occupied by them.

Digital nomad requires minimalism in life and in the devices that help you to work, communicate, and do whatever you want.

Simple to understand, but hard to implement.

It can be so challenging to remove all the unnecessary things in life, especially, if you’ve been living with them for your whole life.

So, in this article, I’ll tell you about the only device that gives you just the two devices that you need to work from anywhere you want and become whoever you want.

MacBook

That’s right. The one most crucial thing every digital nomad can own is a laptop. It’s a sign of mobility — a sign that you can work in the cafeteria as well as from home.

And in my opinion, the MacBook is the best laptop out there and the best piece of technology that humanity has ever built.

By the way, I’m writing this article from my MacBook Air M2 as well.

I also think that it’s pretty underpriced. Let me explain.

For the last 10 years, the MacBook has been something of a luxury that not many of us could afford. Right now, it has literally the best quality/price ratio. For a little bit over $1,000, you get one of the most powerful laptops. Including the fact that almost all of the laptops on the market cost the same.

It has the best keyboard, the best screen, the best performance, and even the best power consumption.

On a MacBook, everything works instantly. I’ve been working on a PC that costs around $2,000, and it was much slower. I can open every app on my laptop at the same time, and it’s like nothing.

The power consumption is ridiculously small. I can work for 2–3 days straight without any need for charging.

The screen is one of the best in the world as well. It’s a little bit small but still has the greatest resolution and color palette.

The keyboard was so important for me as a writer. I’m writing more than 3,000 words every day, and it’s crucial for me to have an amazing keyboard.

So yeah, you might not be a fan of the Macbook, but in my opinion, it’s the best device that you, as a digital nomad, should have.

In fact, it’s even more powerful when you have something else from Apple, like iPhone and AirPods. But it’s more of an addition and not the first thing that you need to think of.

Of course, depending on your job, you might need a few extra things. I need my Logitech mouse for designing. But make sure you really need them and aren’t just collecting stuff.

So yeah, of course, having only one device is a metaphor; you can add something that is truly crucial for you as well. But remember

“Minimalism is not a lack of something. It’s simply the perfect amount of something.” — Nicholas Burroughs
