So you want to become an entrepreneur? That’s a common issue for most of us, especially in the current state of the world. Everybody says the same thing over and over. Open your business and become an entrepreneur.

However, do you really need to do it, and do you really need to change your 9–5 job? That’s the main question that most of you should ask yourself before starting your entrepreneurship journey.

In this article, I wanted to tell you more about the disadvantages of building your own business. There are a huge number of pitfalls, which we will talk about later. Not everyone should be an entrepreneur.

In this article, I wanted to tell you more about the disadvantages of building your own business. There are a huge number of pitfalls, which we will talk about later. Not everyone should be an entrepreneur.

Is A Usual Job Really Bad?

Many people reading this are obsessed with entrepreneurship. However, for someone working 9–5 is the best possible option. Business won’t make you feel better if you’re unhappy because of your job. It will only add to your problems and make your life more difficult.

Before doing literally anything, you need to ask yourself, “Why?”. Why do you want to work on this job? Why do you want to grow? Why do you want to change companies, etc.? It will give you an understanding of what’s going on.

Someone just doesn’t want to have all these troubles coming from a business. They want to work as a software engineer at a big company and earn a pretty good salary.

While working for a company, you don’t have to think about logistics, marketing, management, and so on. You're just finishing up tasks and getting paid for them. That could be the best life for someone.

So you always need to think about what you really want, not what others want from you. If you really want to create something meaningful for people, you should do so. It doesn’t matter if you’re coding it or making a design. It also doesn’t matter if you’re working on your own project or at a company. Anyway, you have a goal, and you need to achieve it.

In a nutshell, if you like your job, you probably shouldn’t leave it. Business won’t make you happy if you’re unhappy in your current job. And entrepreneurship is probably not the best option for you.

Turning Your Hobby Into a Business Isn’t The Best Option

Alright, turning your hobby into a business is probably the best way to earn some money. But while doing so, you will probably lose all of the principles that guided you at first and do everything only for money. And you need to include this as well.

I don’t want to sound like someone who doesn’t like money and wants you to be poor. I’m absolutely the opposite; I’m really passionate about entrepreneurship and think that it has unlimited potential. However, I don't want you to lose touch with what you're doing.

For instance, you started doing something handmade just as a hobby. In the beginning, you’re doing it because you want to or to impress some of your friends. You’re not doing it because of money.

But over time, you understand that you can monetize it. It’s the right thoughts that most people have at this stage. However, after starting to convert your hobby into a business, you start to feel burned out. There’re tons of customers, and you just can’t do it anymore.

After having trouble delivering products on time, you’ll start to lower the quality. Then you’ll try to automate the process. In the end, you'll have a standard product that lacks the sense it once had. You killed your hobby yourself and have lost what you always wanted to do.

Of course, don’t consider my words straight like that. In some ways, you can only benefit from it. If you don’t care about the quality or have a better plan, you probably should do it. So as you can see, there’s no exact answer. You need to think for yourself and understand all the pros and cons of this specific type of business.

Start Producing First

I’ve seen many guys who want to open their YouTube channel or any other social media account and start earning money from it immediately. But they don’t understand that before earning something, and especially turning it into a business, you need to produce first.

In this example, I would like to tell you about myself. I’m a writer on Medium and currently earn more than $300 each month absolutely passively. However, in the beginning, I hadn’t even thought about monetization. I was just producing content and getting better at writing over and over again.

After I’ve written more than 50 articles, I've changed my goals a little bit and started turning my Medium blog into a business. I’m currently planning on creating different sources of content creation, such as YouTube, TikToks, podcasts, and so on.

You shouldn’t do it at the beginning. Start by taking small steps and growing over time. Just start producing content, and then think about turning it into a business!

.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would say that you should do what you want to do. And you should do what you know best. If you’re good at design, you can open your own design agency, and so on. Anyway, starting a business and becoming an entrepreneur isn’t the best option for most people. But if you're really passionate about it and believe in yourself, then start doing it right now!
