Only a small percentage of readers are becoming writers. However, there’re still some limitations in the brains of most of us. Many people think writing is tough and that only the smartest people can do it. It is undeniably an incorrect expectation, and I’ll explain it to you in a minute!

I’ve reached 175K views on my stories in the last month, and you can too!

I’ve reached 175K views on my stories in the last month, and you can too!

Here’s a screen of my Medium Statistics for the last month

Sometimes Niche Should Be Changed

I want to tell my story first. I’ve been writing on Medium since 2020 and chose the technical niche because I thought it would fit me the best. Actually, for the past two years, I’ve had around 400 subscribers.

After that, I thought about changing the whole niche of my blog to the business and entrepreneurship sphere. It was in November 2022, only a month and a half ago. Since then, one of my articles has boomed and has earned more than 150K views.

Several other articles were popular as well. However, it’s not even compared to my previous results.

In short, sometimes if you don’t have enough views, the problem may be in the way that you’re describing specific things in a specific niche. And sometimes changing the whole niche to a more comfortable one can benefit you in all possible ways!

It is important to mention that, every sphere in this world can have millions of readers and users. We’re talking about describing topics in these niches, right? That’s the key difference!

Tell What You Really Care About

Most people underestimate this advice. You should be sharing thoughts on the topic that you really care about. If you're not interested in health and fitness, don't write about it. Choose something that is personal to you!

You also need to be good at this sphere, but we’ll talk about it a little bit later!

Not More, Not Less. Just Fine

Never overdo, never underdo; you need to work and write just fine. In other words, you shouldn't write an article every day and expect to see good results. I’ve done it, and trust me, it doesn’t give you anything.

Great is the evil of good. Remember this quote!

After writing an article a day, you’ll start to feel burned out and won’t want to write anymore. To prevent this, you need to experiment and see how many articles per week are the best number for you. For me, it’s two articles; I can spend enough time on writing and on my personal life too!

Just find the best way to write to you. It can be 1 article a week or even a month. The quantity of articles does not matter; the quality and consistency of the work done do.

The same principle should be considered for the words. You shouldn’t overwrite the article, sometimes the right word count is around a thousand. I usually write 1200 words and that works amazing for me!

However, it depends on your niche and what exactly you’re writing about. If this is some professional tutorial that fully expresses everything you ever wanted then 1,000 words wouldn’t be enough. You’ll need to write much more than that, but remember that people don’t wanna spend half an hour reading your article.

People also don’t wanna get notifications every day because of your new articles.

Improve In Other Fields As Well

You shouldn’t forget about other fields as well. Only knowing how to write wouldn’t make you a successful writer. You need to be a specialist and understand many concepts in many spheres.

For example, before writing on Medium I was reading a lot (Around a book a week). Because of the knowledge that I got from reading books, I was able to write more professional articles and share many more interesting things!

Also, I said that I was writing on technical topics, usually related to programming. To write really amazing pieces of writing, you’ll need to understand everything that you’re talking about. I was pretty good at programming, and with that knowledge, I was able to express my thoughts!

Now, I’m diving into the entrepreneurship field, which is the most important sphere for me. I really care about things around here and want to share my thoughts with my readers.

I’m also learning economics, upgrading my skills in UI/UX design, and trying to know as much as possible!

Never Compare Yourself To Others

Even if I get 175k views and you don’t, it doesn’t mean that you can’t or that you’re doing something wrong. Sometimes it can be a fortune or a result of consistent work.

However, you shouldn’t compare yourself to others, only to your past self. And that’s the key to success in literally every possible sphere of our lives. I’ll say it again, you mustn’t compare yourself to others and to what they have!

By comparing yourself to someone who is more successful, you will start to feel more depressed and won’t see any progress in your actions. Also, by comparing yourself to someone who is less successful, you’ll become very superior, however, you won’t be as great as you think!

The best way to really see your progress and understand what you need to do in life is to compare it to your past self. In other words, today you must be better than yesterday, and if this rule works every day for you, then you’ll definitely achieve everything you ever wanted!

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I would like to say that you need to remember that it’s possible. Everything is possible, and I’m the best example of it. However, in the beginning, you won’t see so many results and attention.

You’ll have to pass the whole path starting from the very bottom and to the top. I’ve been writing on Medium for 2 years and only now have achieved pretty decent results!

It would also be important to mention that you shouldn’t chase the money; let the money chase you! From this boomed article, I’ve got over $2,000! However, my attitude hasn’t changed.

It literally doesn’t matter if I got $200 or $2,000. It is more important for me to see feedback from my readers and understand that I’ve changed someone’s life!
