To start off, this is not clickbait, and I really earned $4,282 in only one month. That’s incredible, not only for you but for me as well. I started my journey on Medium a long time ago and couldn’t even imagine anything like this.

In fact, I’ve been writing for around a year without monetizing at all and have had many problems with the Medium Partner Program.

To prove everything that I’ve just said, you can look at the screenshot of my Medium earnings. As you can see, I’ve been earning something between $10–20 each month, until October came in.

A Screenshot of my earnings

In October, I wrote my last article on the programming niche and wanted to change the focus of my blog to entrepreneurship and personal growth.

I understood that this niche fits me the best and that I really love to tell people about my personal experience rather than make some programming-related tutorials. It just works better for me and my earnings are the best indicator o fit :)

By the way, this month I've earned around $1,500, and it’s only growing!

By the way, this month I've earned around $1,500, and it’s only growing!

So now you know what I write about and can be confident in my earnings. It's time for me to give several writing tips to everyone so you can write better and achieve better results! I tried to include the most unique ones, not just some fundamental tips that almost everyone knows.

Be Clear And Short

There’s nothing complex in this advice, just as there should be nothing complex in your articles. You have to deliver the information to your readers in the best possible way and think about their time!

Nobody wants to read a 10-minute article about something they don’t care about with a bunch of useless words that are just making the text more complex to read and understand.

If you want to say something, then just say it, without using any abstract concepts or really difficult sentences. Avoid using overly complex language or jargon, and try to get to the point as quickly as you can.

To get more practice, try writing a paragraph of no more than 3-4 lines. It’s the best way for users to read from the mobile app. And as I said, it’s also the best way for you to summarize the information.

Also, don’t make your articles too long. 1000 words for one article is usually enough. Remember about the readers’ time, and that nobody wants to waste their time on useless and garbage information!

Consume The Right Information

Read. Understand. Write. These are the three stages for every writer, and a great plan is to start right away. In a nutshell, to write about something really important, you need to know a lot about it.

In other words, you need to consume the right information so you’ll be more educated in a special sphere. For example, I’ve been reading a lot about entrepreneurship, business, and all things related to self-development.

After reading tons of books and articles on these topics, I didn’t have any issues with writing. I literally had millions of ideas to write and didn’t need anything else to produce the content. I didn’t even need to do any research, everything is inside my brain, and I just need to express it!

You should do the same. You need to understand your niche and have your own opinion on many topics in this field. Just copying the same thing over and over won’t help you build an audience or get much attention. Give your readers something useful by applying something you already know.

It’s also the best way to learn something for yourself. It’s called the Richard Feynman method, which is pretty simple: to understand something better, you need to tell someone else about it.

Explaining is the easiest form of learning, especially for someone who doesn’t give a d*mn about what you’re talking about!

Practice Freewriting

Freewriting is a writing technique where you write as quickly as possible without worrying about grammar, spelling, or punctuation. This can help you tap into your subconscious and generate new ideas.

Many of us use Grammarly or even more advanced tools like QuilBot. To not see every red indicator every 5 seconds, I would recommend you turn them off until you’ve written a significant part of the article or the whole article itself.

Or you can try freewriting for 10–15 minutes on a topic, and then use what you’ve written to start a real article in the future. It's an excellent way to practice and express your thoughts in the first form.

I’ve been doing it for several months and have seen a ton of positive feedback on expressing my own thoughts in the right way. Now, I don’t care about grammar and all this kind of stuff; I just write. Then, after writing a whole article, I edit it with these extensions!

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I would love to say that good writing is all about practice, so don’t worry if you haven’t reached your goals yet! Keep working at it, and you’ll see your skills improve over time.

And also, don’t forget about having fun and enjoying the process itself. You are not required to write; however, if you choose this path, try to get as much as possible from it!
